Pastel pink and a baby blue are the colors of 2016 according to Pantone

For the first time color authority Pantone has anointed two colors of the year for 2016 - Rose Quartz and Serenity:The 2016 PANTONE Color of the Year

I would very much like to borrow the clever title posted by The Decorologist:

Pantone 2016 Color of the Year – Congratulations, It’s Twins!

Because it quite well says everything in just one scentence :)
In order to avoid the feeling that you are in your baby's room, when creating your new home renovation project, use this combination mostly as accents with small and larger interior design objects:

And they say that time of pastels has gone! Of course not - we still need calmness, relaxation, balance and what better way to convey it other than with the most popular baby colours :)

The pastels trend does not want to go! But I was so much attracted by this photo, because of its perfect setting. In fact that is what interiors designer do - provide you with the mood, feeling of well-being and comfort in everything that surrounds you!
Looking at the simple and uncluttered design you may say it is easy, but in order to create this set, one has to be well-acquainted with terms like form, balance, harmony and know how to use these. Then, knowing the work of good designers one can choose properly the suitable elements to create one perfect set and apply it on a preliminarly perfectly designed 'shell'.
Long years of professional experience and 'designers eye for good design' help a lot, too ;)

Color Trends 2015 - calm fresh pastels

Color Trends 2015According to Benjamin Moore & Co.THE COLOR OF THE YEAR for 2015 is GUILFORD GREEN along with four color families - the berry, green, blush and blue paint color collections.
"A neutral that's natural. A silvery green that works with, well, everything. No worries. No second thoughts. Just a brush, dipped in a can, whooshed on a wall, and a whole lot of happily ever after."

Milan 2014 - trends that continue from last year

I was impressed to find that many of the populr trends in interior design continue successfully their life at this year's Milan Design Week. Let's mention just two of them for today:

In fact the two trends are interconnected because copper reflects exactly this love for soft colours.

Sweet pastels - in your home

TAPED by Studio PS

As you have already found, I am in pastels phase - they are so calming and beautiful. They can create the right atmosphere at home without much investments - just choose the proper colours for your paints and furnishings. Or, even easier - buy yourself a beautiful set of ceramics like the Taped above. And coordinate properly.

And no doubt pastels are very popular - they are one of the main trends in design that we saw at the begiining of the year during the major design events.

Pastel inspirations for your home

We have spotted the raising of the pastels trends in earlier blog posts here and in my Clippings post, but I came accross today at some really beautiful illustrations of this trend in interior design projects:

They are by set designer and design consultant Laura Fulmine and I found them on The Design Chaser.
Here below are some more inspirations from this blog - really nice colour combinations, that show exactly this calmness pastels exude.
 - an example how pastels can be applied on the wall. Inspiration for wall colours can come from some furniture pieces:

One of my favorite home decor elements is glass - it brings instantly beauty and inspiration in your room. Just have a look at these calm aqua and green tones in unusual forms: Aqua and Citrine Balloon Vases Aqua and Citrine Balloon Vases

The charm of pastels in interior design

Pastels are one of the 2013 trends for interior design, as we have seen earlier. They provide the calmness we are all looking for. With their soft tones pastels create a charming atmosphere at home.

For a young and fresh mood add one or two popping strong colour accents as in the example above.
It is possible to add the pastels only through furniture in a monochromatic room and then suddenly it looks bright and elegant:
