"The idea of contemporary living"

Contemporary design has a lot of creations that give us joy and inspiration, in addition to the obligatory comfort. If you are looking for something different from traditional forms and designs, such that can better create your individual style, have a look at my collection of home products that I find quite inspiring and would be happy to use in my interior design projects:

I am impressed with these new options for the kitchen - Hi-tech material composed of two sheets of alluminium bonded with an extruded polyethylene core and treated with a special protective matt finish catalyzed in a kiln:

KITCHENS - Breaking up the linear composition

Finally a kitchen that is something completely different from the standard row of cupboardsd! Breaking up the linear composition is one of its positive features, but I like also the beautiful natural colours and materials with more texture - Pinea collection of Toncelli kitchen:

A Kitchen Dream - Cooking Table

I think that this is the perfect solution if you have a large kitchen space and would like to have your dining table there, too:

It can fit comfortably 6 people for breakfast or dining and is within reach for easy serving :)

EuroCucina 2018 - Trends

What is happening in the world of kitchens? According to the suggestions from the last EuroCucina during Milan Design Week 2018, the kitchen is becoming more and more part of the living room and dining area and the lines between them are getting blurred:
"+Venovo", Poggenpohl
And we will have more often a hidden kitchen:
Ernestomeda - Inside System
But what I like very much is the idea that the dining table gets attached to the kitchen island,
Euromobil
allowing you to change the working and dining area according to the needs.

Kitchen Trends

According to a post in Freshome,
"These days, two-toned kitchen cabinets are the look everyone seems to be clamoring over".
And they give a set of good-looking examples, one of which is with a similar to the Pantone's shade of  purple paint on the lower cupboards:

Reading this post I realized that most of my kitchen projects are exactly two-toned:

So, I don't think this can be considered a new trend, but still, like the idea to use two toned cabinets and make the kitchen more interesting.

What do you think?

I plan to post more about kitchen trends, especially when we get nearer to the coming Milan Design Week in April, where kitchens and bathrooms are going to be basic themes.

The kitchen is the heart of the home

The kitchen is where the most welcoming atmosphere of our home shoud be because often we all gather there. And this why we can see how industrial chic gives way to comfort, convenience and efficiency. It is not looking like a showroom any more, but like a warm centerpiece to the home, a low-maintenance oasis of calm. Natural materials and neutral tones complement space-saving innovations and functional features, and a range of new appliances promise to enhance these kitchens with subtle upgrades. And its not necessary to require large investments, as you can see from the examples below or in my older posts:

Micro Living - how design can help

Small space living is one of my favourite themes in this blog, because it seems that flats in big cities are getting smaller and this is a trend, but small can also be good looking. And there comes the role of the interior designer who can help you with both. I just came accross this inspiring design of a very small Parisian aprtment - 11m² at yellowtrace.com.au by Studio Batiik and just have to share the ideas:

What I like most here is not just the functionality, but also the elegant solutions and overall aesthetics.

Trend Alert: Brass in the kitchen on a large scale

I saw this Hot new kitchens trend  coming during my visit at Salone last April and today I found a very beautiful confirmation for it at Nordic Design News:

"Brass in the kitchen is in - and we're not just talking about the faucets anymore..."
Form 45, Multiform, by Danish designer Henrik Witt

As they describe it, their kitchen Form 45 will "not only be aesthetically superb, but also of a quality, that ensures your kitchen will last. The joy of genuine quality is ever-lasting." The combination of natural wood with brass is so elegant and warm! With great design and exquisite detailing, all edges beveled with diagonal cuts at 45 degrees, this kitchen is a real modern classic!

It introduces a whole new approach to kitchen design in general - we don't have the traditional counter here made of a different material from the one of the island itself.

A real luxury!

Hot new kitchens trend:

I saw this trend in Milan during this year's design week and I continue to see it in many new kitchen designs - rediscovering brass:

Not only for taps, but for the whole kitchen island - both, countertop and cupboard covers. Brass is an ancient materials that is strong, good looking and ages well - how do you like the idea?
