The Bathroom - Pure Glamour

I don't like ostentatious vanity, but this design below is just perfect - it has the right amount of glamour in a beautifully designed bathroom where every expensive material and product is used jut because of its qualities and the perfect match with therest of the interior.
Greg Natale Design

The white marble blends well with the white and gold Bisazza mosaic and the yellow glass lighting above elegantly adds modern elelement as if saying that gold is not the only and most important component of glamour :) Great design! I wish this was my project!

Autumn at home

Autum is beautiful - it brings some soft and cozy glow everywhere around us. And we are all tempted to take it with us in our homes. It is such a pleasure to decorate our homes with the warm colors of autum leaves, branches and fruits. I just need to share with you these beautiful photos from Better Homes and Gardens magazine:

Houses of the Famous - Monk's Cottage

I just came across the pictures of actor Tony Shalhoub's Martha's Vineyard Cottage, playing the sympathetic character of Adrian Monk - a brilliant San Francisco detective, whose obsessive compulsive disorder just happens to get in the way.

Look at the clever use of small pictures to make a simple interior elegant and artistic. The only thing that troubles my eyes here are those protruding fence planks on the bed, but I like the calmness of the atmosphere - a great place to spend summer days!

Smart Design for Your Home

Consider the Water Lily if you love the idea of a rain shower but worry the spray won't be strong enough to remove the shampoo from your hair.

Evolve's ShowerStart™ technology watches the shower's temperature and "triggers a trickle" as soon as the shower is 95 degrees and warm enough to jump in. This prevents your hot water from inadvertently running down the drain before you can hop in the shower. Not only have you eliminated the water and energy waste, but the sound of the trickle tells you that your shower's ready. The hot water for your shower is now warm and waiting instead of warm and wasted.

Evolve wanted great style and luxury features such as maximum flow rates, drenching spray patterns, anti-clog spray nozzles and solid brass fittings – and it had to be well priced too.

This charming polka-dotted Pony step stool now has another useful purpose attached to its long neck and thats a cute little coat rack for your little ones belongings. Friendly handpainted pony could be a good way to make sure your child hangs up their stuff-no more on the floor!

Living Art piece: An Aquarium in a Frame To Hang in Your Home

An interesting idea: if you like tropical fish but not the bulky aquariums that go with them, consider the AquaVista 500 which hangs on the wall like a picture. “It’s a living art piece,” says Scott Yen, the president of AquaVista Enterprise Inc., the Menlo Park, Calif., company that makes the aquarium. “We’re giving you the canvas, and your fish are the art.” The aquarium is made of a 4.3-inch-thick, 26-inch-square shatterproof acrylic and injection-molded plastic. The pump and filtration system are concealed inside. All you see are the fish in their environment, against a background chosen from eight options, including midnight black and deep blue. The aquarium comes with a black or silver frame; a wood frame is available, too.

Home Trends 2007 and On

A lot of the visitors landing on my blog come from Google search on today's home trends - space planning and interior design in general. I think that this is just a proof of how important changes are happenning nowadays in the spaces where we live. The rapid changes in the world we live make us change our homes, too. The concept for the modern home is already much different than the one we had only a decade ago.

Here is one of the best short descriptions of the contemporary home I found in MoCo Loco by Harry Wakefield:"the living room is a room to live in (not a sitting parlor), the dining room is the place used to dine every day and the kitchen is the new entertainment room where preparing food is a communal activity"

About 3 years ago we discovered that we like to stay in the kitchen and entertain with our friends while prepairing the food and suddenly the kitchen has become the center of the home.

Today, instead of investing in larger homes, people seem to prefer to invest in making the available space multifunctional and better organized.

Customization is also one of the main trends on the market as a whole and what is very important - even in home appliances. The latest example: with Integra® Refrigeration by Bosch you can now customize your refrigeration to your kitchen as well as your lifestyle, with a choice of refrigeration units, freezers and wine coolers that can create a truly customized cooling solution. With sizes ranging from 18" to 36", you can create virtually any configuration you want. If you don’t freeze much but have a lot of fresh food, pair an 18" freezer with a 30" refrigerator. Then add a 24" wine cooler for your treasured wine collection.

Another major trend is the desire to make our homes greener - both as a living environment and as general attitude to the world we live in.
Homeowners are embarking on home redecorating and remodeling projects that add pleasure and wellness to their home environments and preserve the environment around them.

The fusion style is alive and thriving (one elegant example is from Greg Natale Interiors above). Many designers avoid working with a specific 'style' preferring to draw from diverse sources of inspiration and breath new life into past decoration elements. As a result more and more home owners begin to understand that over- coordination, in both color scheme and era can make a room banal and sterile and it is better to be creative and choose furniture for its shape and the way it relates to the other pieces in the room.

It is very interesting to ascertain that the trends expected for 2007 are a fact already. What is next?

I am starting to publish here regularly my observations and finds about the most interesting Home Trends we spot at the end of 2007. A detailed analysis is available on request.

Ebony is the new trendy material for furniture design

For the last year ebony appears to be the new trendy material in furniture design - more and more companies offer kitchens, tables, chairs and cupboards
either in natural ebony veneer or its laminate immitation. Elegant and interesting this is a wood we have appreciated for many years, but now it has come to replace the overused wenge.
I expect this trend to continue and ebony to become one of the most popular materials in interior design and home decoration because of its versatility.
Here is an elegant example:
Enjoy architect Giorgio Soressi's Jazz buffet - its unique vision is achieved by the use of "a syncopated composition of striated ebony veneer", as Interior Design describes it.

Suggestion for your kitchen and bathroom:

Do you want something unusual for your home? Something glamorous, glittering, but warm and beautiful? I found lately that I am attracted by the warm glow of copper. Have a look at some copper sinks that look like a live piece of art:

Great Recycling Idea

Recycled soda cans, hand-cut and nailed to a wooden frame - that is what this elegant mirror frame is made of! Pop Art Mirror is produced by
Mitch Levin and Susie Levin from High Voltage Studio

Probably this is the most elegant way to re-use those unnecessary cans that we produce every day in our homes!

Една чудесна идея как да оползотворим ненужните ни вече кутии от безалкохолни напитки! Просто ги нарязваме на парченца и ги заковаваме на дървена рамка!
