Modern Luxury Interior design Inspiration

Memento Moooi Wallcovering Collection, but what I like here is the way it is presented with this beautiful hue which suits perfectly the elegant wooden armchair with brick colour leather upholstery.

The wallpaper is even more strikingly luxurious in gold on dark background combined with these golden upholstery chairs

Milan Moments

 I cannot still manage to organize my impressions and photos from Milan design Week 2022 - it IS impossible to see and then analyze even half of what was on show at the grounds of Rho Fiera, even more on all areas or Fuorisalone, but I want to share some of the most impressive moments from my stay that I have succeeded to capture:

Collectible Design Fair Preview - a sofa with lentil beans!

 As my regular readers know, I like to publish about design-art - this is one of my favourite themes. Not because I like unusual ideas - that's right if they have some sensible application, but I find it valuable to create inspired one-of-a-kind designs that also have some practical application. That is real art in design :) - for me.
Get some inspiration from the coming Collectible Design Fair, taking place March 5-8 in Brussels.
Unlike a conventional sofa, this sofa has sloping soft surfaces which adapt to the body in a variety of lounging positions. Its soft structure is filled with organic latex and lentil beans, which support the natural curves and movements of the body. The filling in the bean bags is supportive, but it also makes the sofa malleable enough to conform exactly to the shapes required for proper posture - genius design by Nina Edwards Anker from NEA Studio:

"A domestic micro-architecture"

This is how the company describes their quite elegant new marble sink created with the use of advanced processing technologies:

But I am more impressed with their newest washbasin design by Calvi Brambilla, presented at the Exhibition “Brand & Stone 2.0” - Marmomac 2019 - OSSIMORO:

How do you like them? Beautiful, but for an everyday bathroom I would rather use their colourful designs presented at their stand during Salone 2019.

Unexpected developments of the TERRAZZO trend - in lighting!

Terrazzo is one of my favourite trends in interior design - I have written a lot about it, but what I like is the idea of using small pices of luxury materials to create something unique without limitations of colour, style, area of application. Even textiles designers are often inspired by this idea. What I am most recently impressed with is the latest collection of lighting, created by by Luca Nichetto - ‘Heritage’:

"Heritage’ by Luca Nichetto – a sublime Murano glass lighting collection inspired by Josef Frank’s ‘Terrazzo’ textile, comissioned by Svenskt Tenn. "- Yellow Trace

Nichetto describes the new Fusa series as a bridge between Stockholm and Murano. 

“My first thought when I saw the print was that the stones in the motif looked exactly like a mosaic and Murano glass. I highlighted the different formations, combined them and gave them new life in the form of lighting.” scandinaviandesign.com/

Light from robotic flowers that blossom when you are near

"Meadow is an upside down landscape, the kinetic sculpture consists of mechanical flowers that open and close in a poetic choreography. The installation reminds the viewer of the impermanence of constantly changing seasons and sensational character of natural growth processes.Most man-made objects have a static form, while everything natural in this world including people, are subject to constant metamorphosis and adaptation to their surroundings. Meadow is the result of the question how an inanimate object can mimic those changes that express character and emotions.

As an upside down landscape the kinetic sculpture reacts to the visitors as if they where the sun to a blooming flower. All flowers together create the experience of a botanical creature that naturally engages the viewer. Underneath Meadow integrated sensors translate the presens of the visitors into different 'moods'.  The robotic flowers blossom by mixing the light colour and the colour of the fabric that in itself has a colour gradient.

Luxurious Interior Design Requires Great Design, not Glitter

Not the one saying 'rich' - it is much better to describe it as luxury that makes use of great design and great quality materials for perfect function. That is my idea of luxury in interior design. 
Have a look at some examples and get inspired! The first one is my idea of a perfect kitchen island:

Onix! This is one of the most beautiful natural stones that you can choose for your interior design project! It is slightly transparent and this gives a certain depth to its look. Can you see how it resembles here a bautiful cloudy sky?

From your bedroom you enter directly into your bathroom in the clouds!

And made to order especially for your home - that is the design you can call a luxury design! We can see an example in the same home - closets’ custom sliding doors:

On a smaller scale we can have a luxury interior design, too - even if you have a small apartment, you can use some distinctive elements from the interior to make it special. Like the coloured glass door that we used in this kitchen I did for my clients:

Trendoffice Product Picks from Milan Design Week 2018

The fair and all the events going at the same time are impossible to grasp and reflect thoroughly, but still, one can have some general impressions about new trends and ineresting new products, unexpected design solutions. Here are some of my picks:

Justine Cabinet by Matteo Cibic - one of his “wonder-objects” designed for JCP

 Yael Reboh's "Primavera" project - layer upon layer of veneer and fabric and the result is so unusually beautiful and probably very comfortable armachair! 

Atlas table by Hillsideout (Andrea Zambelli and Nat Wilms) in painted bronze and glass - Ventura Future

HELIX by Vener Lab - the stainless steel surface, helix-shaped, leans on the structure worked in a single piece of ghiandone stone, carved in the top.

Agua Collection by Patricia Urquiola for Budri
