"longevity decor is en vogue"

Finally we are coming back to the well-known from our parents and grand-parents approach - we have to think of how our furniture and home as a whole will serve us through the coming years. And this should not be considered a trend, as ELLE Decor published soon in an article about latest interior design trends - this is the logical way of designing for ourselves and for our children.

This is also the best approach to designing furniture as something which is to be used for long years. It is about quality materials and elegant functional design that will satisfy the needs of generations. Like wood and natural stone. I like using wood in my designs - it can easily be renovated and treated so that it can age beautifully:

Although I would rather say that "longevity design is en vogue", because decor is something which we can easily change and create a different mood without major renovations.

SPLENDOUR and Fashion Influences in Furniture Design

 - this is an imposing trend we see in furniture - and interior - design.

Onda by Pianca

Lacquered sculpted base in different colors and materials - an easy way to create visual splendor in any interior or exterior space.

Or you can have a table from the collection Pliseé designed by Paola Navone for MIDJ, which obviously is inspired by fashion:

Drapes and stiches, luxury textiles serve well to create splendour at home:

This mutually enriching influence between fashion and interior design is one of my favorite themes.

IMM Cologne 2024 - First Impressions

"The furniture year begins with imm cologne. It is the prelude to all the new products, trends and innovations that will shape the year and is the meeting point for all relevant partners in the market." Dr. Georg Emprechtinger, owner and Managing Director of TEAM 7

It is interesting to look at the new products that appear there. Have a look at some of the first impressions. It seems that the trend for soft rounded forms and colorful furniture continues:

DESIGN MEETS FASHION - again

There is a lot in common between fashion and interior design: you dress your home in a similar way - with the same preferences for colour, materials, style. Probably this approach lies behind that growing number of fashion brands that begin to offer home furnishings, as you can see in my earlier posts like the one on the link above and many other posts on the theme.

Now we see another beautiful collaboration - last October "Nina Yashar, founder of Nilufar Gallery, has curated a selection of pieces from her rich contemporary collectible design collection that will be available on the MODES.COM online platform from mid October."

The beautiful pieces include works by Martino Gamper, Audrey Large, Bethan Laura Wood, Flavie Audi, Amy Lowry, Jonathan Trayte, EDXXKAT and Anestis Michalis. Have a look at some of them:
