Memories from the 56th Salone del Mobile - contemporary luxury

The first post I am writing after visiting Milan is about contemporary luxury - I am pleased to find that the concept of contemporary luxury is based on good design, quality materials and comfort. Elegant curves, luxurious quality materials and well-thought design create the impression of a desire for a more restrained style that is based on elegant classic forms, away from minimalism, but also without useless decorations.A lot of natural wood, natural stones, velvets and leather:

High Design by Masters

It is always interesting to look inside the homes of celebrities, but for me - and may be for you, too - its is even more interesting to look inside the homes of the masters of interior design who know very well how to do it. I am curious to see their choices, but also I am eager to see their approach and borrow ideas. Get inspired from some of the pictures that photographer Leslie Williamson published in new book, “Modern Originals: At Home With Midcentury European Designers” and shared by T Magazine

Beautiful, isn't it?

The most unusual wall treatment

Can you see what there is on the walls of this MOUNTAIN CHALET IN ASPENYes, these are pieces of birch veneer framed with split branches! The whole interior design of this amazing house is very artistic:

"In the entry, an 1880 Belgian table, a 1940s Kaare Klint sofa, and a 1937 Josef Frank cabinet found at Christie's; the staircase is made of antique oak" (Read more: Mountain Chalet In Aspen - Caroline Sarkozy Colorado Home - ELLE DECOR)

Including the kitchen! An elegant mix of old wood and painted pine for the cabinets, modern colour choice and a sudden twist with this beautiful ArtDeco style lamp above the island. I like also the cozy dining corner in the same style and the same pendant fixture:

The artisrtic touch in the master bedroom is the famous wicker chair by Ron Arad:

And in the guest bedroom, if you notice, the walls are covered in the de Le Cuona linen also used for the widow treatment:

A little gloomy for me, but very cozy.
Great interior design - what do you think?
If you are intrested in peculiar use of materials in interior design, go read my older post about another unusual wall treatment - tobacco leaves!

Sitting comfort

Are you a design-lover who cannot afford the originals of the famous modern classics and that is why is in search for the perfect reproduction chairs? May be you will like some of these:

Hanging bubble chair - This is not the famous Eero Aarnio Bubble Chair, but it is very much like it.
And here below is another reproduction one of his famous designs:
Ball chair
Ball Chair is a "high-quality redesign of the original while staying true to the original craftsmanship", as the company claims. And the last one, which is one of my favorite designs by Arne jacobsen and for which, again, the seller declares to be 'true to the original':
