 Its name is Xtend - a meager 7 kgs heavy strip of metal that’s just 8.5mm thin and can in an instant become a bathtub:

This is result of clever design and use of metal and a washable cloth lining on the inside. The Xtend is a recipient of the Red Dot Best of the Best award for 2015, Designer: Carina Deuschl.

How do you like it? For me Xtend is the perfect solution for small bathrooms and for travelling.

Bright airy kitchen to dream for

I was fascinated when I first saw it - this kitchen is so calm and inviting, so light and airy! A great designer solution - combining light, colour, glass with floating shelves and tender light green shade along with the wood makes it so fresh! And comfortable, too - notice the two sinks. One is near the stove for easy cooking.

This great kitchen is part of a beautiful house created by Schwartz Architecture. I would definitely be proud of work of this quality!

Art is the great final touch

that makes a space unforgettable and charming. Art is also the necessary element that can unite all the other elements of an interior design project and gives it a character. And when the interior designer works together with the owners to achieve that, then the result is undoubtly the best. That was what I thought when I saw the photos of this beautiful Contemporary Ranch Style Residence:

Of course, we have to admit that the result would not have been the same without the great work of  Stephen Moser Architect - the building itself is a wonderful background for displaying all those artefacts and beautiful furniture as part of the overall interior design solutions.
I would definitely like to live in such a house - what about you?

The most unusual wall treatment

Can you see what there is on the walls of this MOUNTAIN CHALET IN ASPEN? Yes, these are pieces of birch veneer framed with split branches! The whole interior design of this amazing house is very artistic:

Including the kitchen! An elegant mix of old wood and painted pine for the cabinets, modern colour choice and a sudden twist with this beautiful ArtDeco style lamp above the island. I like also the cozy dining corner in the same style and the same pendant fixture:

The artisrtic touch in the master bedroom is the famous wicker chair by Ron Arad:

And in the guest bedroom, if you notice, the walls are covered in the de Le Cuona linen also used for the widow treatment:

A little gloomy for me, but very cozy.

It is not only about perfect design, even not at all about perfect design. It is about personal presence. We, as interior designers, can help a lot about the coziness and perfect functioning of your home, but we can fill it with soul only with your participation.  It is always obvious when the owners have attitude to art and design, emotional connections with some of the elements of the interiors and many memories that they want to preserve. All this brings about the creation of inspired spaces we all admire.

Luxury design

Do you like luxury in interior design? One would say 'Who doesn't'? But for different people different things in interior design mean luxury. I think that waht unites them is the attitude of the owner - luxury is what makes him happy, satisfied, even though not an absolute necessity. Like this unusual and rare fossilised granite top and backsplash. But it is the thing that makes this kitchen spectacular!

Fall trends for your home

 With the cold weather coming, it is wise to look for some ways to transform our homes into a cozy winter retreat. One of the main trends this year in interior design is the increased use of copper and brass - they both are warm metals and definitely will help you with this. Adding a touch of copper or brass here and there will make your interior much more warm and welcoming. If you like the charm of ancient crafts a lamp like this one can transform completely the atmosphere at you home:

And for a more modern style, the designer to look for is Tom Dixon - he is a great example of modern way of using copper and applying crafts. His Void Pendant Light reference the Olympic medals with three metallic finishes: brass, polished stainless steel and copper. Inspired by vacuum flasks, these mysterious lighting objects conceal a powerful halogen lamp that concentrates the light to create a soft directional beam. Solid metal sheets are pressed, spun and braised to form a double wall shade. They are hand polished to create a mirror surface which is lacquered to maintain a high gloss finish. Void makes use of existing techniques and regular fittings - the innovation lies in the undulating form of the shade:
