Luxury design

Do you like luxury in interior design? One would say 'Who doesn't'? But for different people different things in interior design mean luxury. I think that waht unites them is the attitude of the owner - luxury is what makes him happy, satisfied, even though not an absolute necessity. Soft sorage furniture

 No, I am not talking about sofas and poufs - I am talking about wardrobes! We have seen some examples of textile used in storage furniture, but this already becomes a stable trend: the 26 years old German designer Meike Harde's textile furniture series London consists of a wardrobe, a cabinet as well as a bag-like storage object. 
The Organisers from Tent and Super Brands London invited Meike Harde to participate at SUPER DESIGN GALLERY during the Design Festival.

We know the designer from her ingenious Zieharsofika collection that appeared last year and I think that this direction of her new designs is part of the beginning of new trend in furniture design.

The world’s lightest wood table

Ripple is an experimental prototype for an ultra-lightweight timber table. This elegant minimalist design created by London-based designer Benjamin Hubert with  Canadian manufacturer Corelam is made using 70-80% less material than a standard timber table and can be assembled and manoeuvred by a single person.. Ripple is 2.5 metres long, one metre wide and weighs only 9 kilograms.  It is produced from three ply 0.8mm birch aircraft plywood, using an innovative production process of corrugating plywood which makes it stronger. Even legs are made from it.  It was part of Hubert’s Antecedents show at The Aram Gallery during London Design festival 2013.

Floating Kitchen

We have already seen the floating - or levitating - bed by Lago, The New Levitating Lamp, and different other real or illusionary forms of Levitation in Design. They all have one thing in common - the impression of more free space. And that is the main purpose we use this approach in interior design. I have posted about the use of floating furniture, but another way to enlarge visually small spaces is by using glass as a supportive base for furniture. This is not usually applied in kitchens and Linee kitchen by Team 7 is a great example of this approach:
