Fashion ... and Home -- Knitted, Knotted, Weaved

Several years ago I wrote There is a lot in common between fashion and interior design: you dress your home in a similar way - with the same preferences for colour, materials, style. But now I have learned that it is not always true - many people who invariably take care to be fashionably dressed do not care about their homes design, which is sad...

Still, it IS true that fashion and interior design do have a lot in common and trends in fashion inspire product designers who create for interiors. I was convinced again of this connection this April during Milan Design Week. Get some inspiration from my photos from Milan:

DESIGN MEETS FASHION - again

There is a lot in common between fashion and interior design: you dress your home in a similar way - with the same preferences for colour, materials, style. Probably this approach lies behind that growing number of fashion brands that begin to offer home furnishings, as you can see in my earlier posts like the one on the link above and many other posts on the theme.

Now we see another beautiful collaboration - last October "Nina Yashar, founder of Nilufar Gallery, has curated a selection of pieces from her rich contemporary collectible design collection that will be available on the MODES.COM online platform from mid October."

The beautiful pieces include works by Martino Gamper, Audrey Large, Bethan Laura Wood, Flavie Audi, Amy Lowry, Jonathan Trayte, EDXXKAT and Anestis Michalis. Have a look at some of them:

Fashion for the Home at Salone 2019

Trendoffice is the blog that published a lot about the mutual influence between fashion and interior design way before all the mainstream magazines began to write about this growing trend -  fashion brands began to offer home furnishings several years ago and now they are occupying quite a central place in the yearly Salone del Mobile in Milan. 
This happened again in April - have a look at some of them:

Fashion Brands’ Home Lines taking over Salone del Mobile - again

As my regular readers already know, the mutual influence between fashion and interior design is one of my favourite themes in this blog. And for a reason - every year we are seeing it grow. The most recent example - Milan Design Week 2018: some of the most exclusive fashion designer labels were presenting their new luxury home objects for the sixth year. What I liked very much:

QUILTED Coziness

Quilting is a tool that instantly provides coziness to any type of furniture - even on a simple dining chair:

Quilting is another trend in furniture design borrowed from fashion where it was on trend a couple of years ago and for this fall we see it again:

Although I like her style, I think that this is probably one of her worst designs.

Modern Bulgarian design with ancient origin

How do you like it? This is a perfect modern interpretation of traditional Bulgarian embroidery motives created centuries ago.

The author of these beautiful creations is a young Bulgarian graphic designer Gergana Stankova, who has researched and found these beautiful ancient patterns from the cupbords of our grandmothers who have inherited them on their home textiles and costumes from their grandmothers. Then she has found a way to transfer these on modern scarves and other accessories based on the beauty of Bulgarian folklore embroidery patterns. Enjoy:

For the Fashion Inspired - Trends SPRING 2017

Fashion and interior design have a lot in common, as my readers have seen already, because this is one of my favourite trends and I regularly publish new examples. We can see this relation continuing in the next season in some photos from the latest fashion events:
