Shoe fashion in interior design

As my regular readers know, I am very much interested in the relation between fashion and interior design. It is expressed in various ways, but now I have just saw in Domus another expression of that relation - this is the new Tread Carpet by Spanish designer Martín Azúa created for a Camper store. I suppose that this is the best idea suitable for a fashionable shoe store - it represents a playful composition of many footprint shapes, woven by artisans from the region of Murcia from esparto, a traditional material, from which soles of sandals are usually manufactured. Great idea! And a designer, who also believes that there are  "no boundaries between disciplines".

Bisazza Opens a New Flagship Store in Miami

Bisazza flagship stores are a great source of inspiration for interior designers and clients searching for luxury interior surfacing materials and furniture.
All Bisazza flagship stores are located in the main capitals of design: Antwerp, Barcelona, Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Milan, Moscow, New York, Paris, Rome and most recently Tokyo – with a Miami location opening in December.
Each Bisazza flagship store explores the amazing beauty of mosaic as a decorative mediumand suggests ideas for its way of application. The new flagship store in Miami is its fourth showroom in the United States.
It is located in the Design District area inside an impressive building and occupies a space of 400 square meters. The airy and luminous environments are perfectly fit for displaying the Bisazza Mosaic Collection and Bisazza Home, an assortment of furniture and decorative accessories signed by leading designers such as: Andrée Putman, Jaime Hayon, Marcel Wanders, Patricia Urquiola.

Another Great Shop Design - Camper, Paris by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

I find that the Bouroullec brothers have a passion for textile. After the Quilt ­ 2009 and the Clouds ­ 2008 projects now they have found a way to use a very domestic textile product in a shoe shop design - "backstitched blankets that partially cover the walls and certain furniture and décor
elements". At the same time they are used as a background where to hang, like in an exhibit, the famous brand Camper shoes. As the designers explain, "...we tried to create a space that was both evident and surprising,a space able to produce special sensations: the red adds warmth, the cloths muffle sounds and give depth and the household furniture confers an air of simplicity."
This comfortable store, located in the impressive Centre Pompidou in Paris, joins the other two spaces that Camper already has in this city.
Great color scheme, simplicity together with coziness and elegance - that is what an interior design should be about, even in a shoe store. I like it!

This shop could be looked at as an example of male-designer's approach to shoe shop design. We have seen what a female-designer's approach is with Urquiola's Shoe Shop Like Cosy, Comfortable Bedrooms.
With this project Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec again prove to be not only part of the group of the most influential contemporary product designers, but also great interior designers, too. I am a fan of their office design, too - they have a considerable contribution to make the office environment cosy and comfortable.

Новият магазин на известната марка за обувки Camper в Париж, трети подред, е дело на братята Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. Интересен похват - за фон за показване на обувките дизайнерите широко използват текстил в красиво съчетание на различни оттенъци на топлата гама на цветното колело от цикламено до жълто с баланс от малко зелено. Друг необичаен елемент - мебелите, които са използвани, са проектирани за домашен интериор - още един начин магазинът да има приятна и уютна атмосфера.

Fashion and Interior Design: Milan’s new Max Mara store

The fashion and interior design interconnection is one of my favourite themes, as my regular readers have already noticed - they share common trends, color schemes, patterns and ideas. But there is one more important connection - the role of interior design as a setting for display of fashion products.

"A designer who is able to harness light in a creative way is a precious partner in any type of retail project."

- this is a quote from an article in DOMUS about Milan’s new Max Mara store interior design. It not only conveys the well-known feeling of luxury, but also of discrete elegance. Natural, sophisticated materials and indirect lighting provide a relaxed atmosphere and, as the author Maria Cristina Tommasini writes, the role of lighting in a fashion store is of greatest importance.
"It must faithfully reproduce the colours of the clothing without offending the skin tone of customers."
One of the most creative areas, as far as I can see from the photos, are the dressing rooms (below), but what cannot be seen is the way the lighting is concieved: "The dressing rooms are shrouded in religious semi-darkness when they are empty. They slowly light up when someone goes inside, providing the appropriate light for trying on clothes."

Shoe Shop Like Cosy, Comfortable Bedrooms

Sophistication, exquisiteness, elegance and tradition radiates from this special store in Milan. Gianvito Rossi - the son of legendary Italian shoe designer Sergio Rossi decided to create his own brand in 2006, and this past year he´s been working on creating an impeccable look in his Milan and Paris stores.
The designer who created this space is my favorite contemporary female designer Patricia Urquiola. She wanted to make it look like cosy, comfortable bedrooms. She combined classic elements with contemporary ones. Luxury radiates from the materials, from the terracotta to the marble.
Urquiola aimed to make customers feel comfortable rather than creating the familiar sales-driven visual merchandising. There is a velvet bookshelf in one of the main bedrooms to hold their most important shoe models.

This must be the most attractive shoe shop in the world! What do you think? I will only say that this is what a talented interior designer can do with your space! In this case we have a talented woman, who has proved her skills as architect, industrial designer and interior designer!
