The kitchen is the heart of the home

The kitchen is where the most welcoming atmosphere of our home shoud be because often we all gather there. And this why we can see how industrial chic gives way to comfort, convenience and efficiency. It is not looking like a showroom any more, but like a warm centerpiece to the home, a low-maintenance oasis of calm. Natural materials and neutral tones complement space-saving innovations and functional features, and a range of new appliances promise to enhance these kitchens with subtle upgrades. And its not necessary to require large investments, as you can see from the examples below or in my older posts:

A great example of the Rough Luxe design trend

This is a story about one great design idea with great implementation.
I saw it in Freshome and the impressive design is by Yaroslav Galant for Kiev’s first fruit shop
RAMBUTAN fruit studio.

It starts from the outside image of the store and continues inside with a lot of interesting ideas:

Each box is in fact a fridge drawer with specific temperature suitable for each fruit!

And the crisp white tablecloths are made of Corian!

A perfect example of the Rough Luxe trend that I have so much witten about!

Beautiful Fusion of Styles

I like it when modern designers do not just copy ancient traditions and design ideas, but transform them in a modern way and setting:

Great design! What do you think - agree? Check more examples of the fusion trend which is not new at all!

'Copper everywhere' trend

This is one of the most clearly visible modern trends in interior design - copper everywhere. Today I saw it even on a chair and a table:

Wonderful eclectic

What do you think of eclectic style? I have always been fan of a more free coordinated interior design, not restricted by certain styles or periods, but with good taste and professional approach. I have collected some inspiring examples:

Copper obsession

Copper is one of the most beautiful materials and is also one of my favourites. But for the last couple of years it has become a popular trend material for all kind of products and applications. Look at the lates suggestions by designers:

'Copper Mirror Series' by Norwegian-born, London-based designers Amy Hunting and Oscar Narud.
"inspired by the visual language and movement of the different elements of the solar system".

Decor Walther Living and Bathroom accessories

These are my favourites from the above collection: countertop copper soap dish and liquid soap dispenser

But I am fascinated also with this set of two low tables made of copper and Carrara marble -Levels by  a Beirut based design studio david/nicolas:

And a few facts about copper by Discipline:
What you probably didn’t know is that copper patina is not related to damages or corrosion but in fact it is simply the settling of molecules to a more stable order. The Statue of Liberty was initially sprayed with a vinegar solution in order for it to obtain itsverdigris (the green pigment). Verdigris actually protects copper—once verdigris sets in, the copper will never corrode.A good and natural way to stirs up the molecules of copper to a state of chaos – and consequently make your copper shine again – is to use a special paste made in equal parts of kosher salt and ketchup.
Interesting, isn't it? I have numerous posts with a wide variety of application of copper.

I like the soft glow of copper - it makes us feel good. It is warm and quite unlike other metals creates atmosphere of coziness and calmness.

Great Bathroom Design!

Design is not only forms, materials and colours - design is mainly concepts, ideas and solutions. And bathrooms are not just a functional space - since long ago. It is our space of experience, rejuvenation and well-being - physically AND spiritually. Enjoy some inspiring designs:

The Personalisation Trend: A Library in the Bathroom

Well, not a new idea, but I have never seen it realized to a such extent :)

Personalisation at its best - merging your bathroom with your library. Quite an unusual solution, but, as you can see here, it works. This is the bathroom/library in the New York City apartment of writer Michael Cunningham, best known for his Pulitzer Prize winning 1988 novel The Hours.(source)
