Wonderful eclectic

What do you think of eclectic style? I have always been fan of a more free coordinated interior design, not restricted by certain styles or periods, but with good taste and professional approach. I have collected some inspiring examples:

And some more very beautiful interior designs, created in eclectic style:

They are also part of the many interesting events during  London Design Festival 2013 .Inspiring, aren't they? I like that this style seems to be one of the trends in interior design that are obviously going to be popular again.

The London Design Festival 2013

Two trends that I notice and that I like very much: graphic design and
African-inspired design:

Hand-woven basket from Northern Ghana
African design,  All of these beautiful designs are part of Graphic Africa, an exhibition of African design at London’s Platform Gallery.

Another trend in interior design that is also noticed during London Design festival 2013 is the renewal of eclectic.

London Design Festival 2013 - Themes and Trends

Just a few days before the opening of this most important design event in UK we already have some impressions about the themes and trends that are expected to be seen at London Design Festival 2013:
  • growing interesrt in modern crafts, but at the same time 'avoiding the pitfall of slipping into rustic pastime pastiche'

  • all things geometric + optical illusion:

  • metallics - the real ones and also all things bright and shiny

This not a new trend - I have published about it several times, especially about the obsession with copper, which is one of my favourite metals.

London Design Festival 2013 starts today

One of the most important design events for the season - London Design Festival is now officially open. And its symbol this year obviously will be the Endless Stair, designed by Architecture firm dRMM:

What I like very much is Habitat's Graphic Africa exhibition:

Complete overlap between trends in fashion and interior design

at least what concerns colours, as we can see from the ELLE's New York Fashion Week trend reports:

- black and white is proving its staying power:

Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection
and GRAPHIC
Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection
- pastels:

Tory Burch Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection
- metallics:
Gucci Kim Metallic Leather Lace-Up Bootie

Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection

And in interior design:
Pastels are a major trend in interior design since the beginning of the year, as we have seen from the first design events and untill the latest ones:

The world’s lightest wood table

ripple table

Ripple is an experimental prototype for an ultra-lightweight timber table. This elegant minimalist design created by London-based designer Benjamin Hubert with  Canadian manufacturer Corelam is made using 70-80% less material than a standard timber table and can be assembled and manoeuvred by a single person.. Ripple is 2.5 metres long, one metre wide and weighs only 9 kilograms It is produced from three ply 0.8mm birch aircraft plywood, using an innovative production process of corrugating plywood which makes it stronger. Even legs are made from it.  It was part of Hubert’s Antecedents show at The Aram Gallery during London Design festival 2013.ripple table
