A great way to personalize your home and make it more cosy - with knitted stool tops upholstery. But what is more interesting, they are not the usual knitted flat materials - they are like sculptures you can sit on:)

Autumn Mood for Your Home
with Lee Jofa's "Nolita" collection from the Groundworks division - the more contemporary fabric offering from Lee Jofa. Rich, warm and inspiring color palette - exactly what the Gypsy summer that we are having right now shows us everywhere! Enjoy it!
Inspired by New York City’s Nolita neighborhood, which is short for North of Little Italy, this new collection of multi-purpose fabrics from Groundworks assembles prints and weaves in a rich and refreshing mixture of color, texture and pattern.
And it may inspire you for your next home renovation!

Cheap & Chic Headboard Ideas
Kid Friendly and Cozy - a giant pillow used as a headboard. It's so soft and fluffy, you won't have to worry about your little one jumping on this bed!

For a new take on an upholstered headboard, hang a bench cushion by its ties from wall-mounted hooks. I wouldn't use this heavy over-door molding, but all the rest is easy to implement and very elegant.

DENIM EVERYWHERE Trend
Denim is always fashionable - it is comfortable, elegant and sturdy. You can find it on the spring runway trends previews

and at furniture shows. The latest trend for upholstered pieces is quilting done up like a Chanel handbag.

You can have both in denim textile - this Kvilt sofa from the Swedish firm Garsnas was presented at this year's Milan Furniture Fair (highlights here).
As always fashion and interior design go hand-in-hand.
But you can make an elegant seating from denim pieces yourself! Like this multifunctional Denim chair by Scrap Lab below.

Great design for the sustainability-minded

Aren't they elegant? These reclaimed-wood Iconic Panels are ideal for retail settings, hotel interiors, and temporary installations such as trade-show exhibitions, but also make a great accent wall for residential furnishing, too. They not only utilize lumber salvaged from olive-barrel staves, razed gym bleachers, and blighted buildings, but also their producers B+N use low-VOC varnishes and water-based glues that don’t contain formaldehyde. The panels can be sawn, nailed, glued, and outfitted with shelving hardware.

There are four trend statements presented inside the Forum.
2008/09 trends take a significant step towards this by reflecting our own image
back on ourselves. “It’s time to be ...” combines the force of the present with
the power of the contemporary.
In this context, honesty and soul are
expansive and so:
The decorative and whimsical are replaced by objectivity
and clarity.
The origin and history of things is important, it lends them
authenticity.
Things produced with honesty and ambition are credible and
valuable.
Texture is equally as important as appearance.
We appreciate
perfection and recognise the attraction of imperfection.
It’s only now that
the new millennium is beginning to take shape in our hearts and heads and we
recognise that it’s time for change. What we desire is a new perspective, a new
concept, a new attitude. Therefore we need to look to the future rather than
referencing the past. We are on the brink of a change in aesthetic direction
towards a new purism.

A SKiN “sculpture” which is a sofa
SKiN is the new sofa designed by Jean Nouvel which will be available from January 2008 by Molteni & C.Light and compact the SKiN sofa definitely looks like a sculpture, but its design is also interesting with the innovative technical ideas such as the supporting structure in tubular pretensioned steel which holds another structural element - the cover in double-sided leather with its self-modelling geometric incisions.

Moooi Boutique - answer to the new consumer requirements
This month is the planned formal launch of the Moooi Boutique presented during last year's Milan fair. This new Moooi boutique concept is a ‘naked’ Moooi sofa system that one playfully dresses (and undresses) with 20 sofa outfits, unique designs custom-made for Moooi in water, oil and stain-resistant fabric with antimicrobiological properties for a minimum of 50 washes.
In fact this is not a very new concept - the possibility to choose between different varations of a model sofa are known to customers for many years, but now all is in Wanders’ signature humourous approach and his unmistakable style which will probably again bring to a great success.
First comes the 'naked sofa' the design of which "is based on the universal archetype of the contaporary sofa...The Underwear is unique and gives the sofa an unprecedented sophistication even when the covers need to be cleaned... The naked sofa will be covered with pluriform designed detailed stylish 'dresses'....Retailers will have stock of naked sofa parts. Moooi will have stock of all the covers and deliver these within 7 days."
This idea of Moooi is directed to

TRENDWATCHING.COM has dubbed MASTER OF
THE YOUNIVERSE. At the core is control: psychologists don't agree on much,
except for the belief that human beings want to be in charge of their own
destiny. Or at least have the illusion of being in charge" as described by TRENDWATCHING.COM"Their goal is to make shopping for a sofa an easy and fun experience, with
a collection of uniquely designed sofas and a series of fabrics that go with
them… Sort of like Ikea, just much much better looking… "
notes Charles&Marie blog
A very good comparison - both companies try with all their efforts to keep customers within their shops and both are quite conviceful in their attempt to make consumers have this illusion.

TRENDS: The new Retro

The trend in design to return to proven concepts has already become an economic factor. Obviously products that tell a story and have a history sell well. Also, products that have already been on the market seem to require less production costs: when an old brand is revived, the company saves enormous advertising costs at the (re-)launch.
Another example: the collection New Antiques of Marcel Wanders for Capellini
