Desire for comfort

That is the new color of the year 2025, chosen by Pantone and everybody talks about it:

It is probably one of the most used colors and one of the most popular ones. If you are not sure how to use colors, then beige is safe one to use ;) Still, it is soft and really beautiful and most important - it answers to our desire for comfort. Probably everybody likes it. Famous fashion houses use it as a symbol of luxury, people who fear from bright colors wear beige, which, for me, is better that black :)

So, I finally agree with Pantone's choice. In so many stressful years it is obvious that we all need that feeling of comfort.

As for interior design - this is great color, effortless to use and match. You can definitely have your home oasis of comfort and luxe in Mocha Mousse. Get some inspiration:

As you can see - this is also like some natural stone and wood colors, too, but beware of being boring.. It is easy with too much beige.

Tomato red is the new color in Milan

This year, in Milan, we were seeing red, a juicy tomato-y hue everywhere, not only at the beautiful exhibition at Museo Poldi Pezzoli (showcasing 50 new furnishings by 17 designers all in the same hue, created by Luca Nichetto, art director of French furniture brand La Manufacture):

Purple Rain

If I had to choose a Colour of the Year 2021 I would for sure choose PUPLE! Many reasons for that - and all the world saw already the beginning of this trend during the inauguration yesterday:

I am sure many will follow. But as we know there is a lot in common between fashion and interior design and my readers have seen so many examples here in my blog. We saw Patricia Urquiola's new armchair and sofa at Milano Design City:

If you follow the posts of the official page of Salone del Mobile on facebook, you must have, like me, come to the impression that we are obviously going to see a lot of  purple, pink, violet colours in the coming 2021 in our homes - and probably at its 60th edition from 5th to 10th September 2021 @ Rho Fiera Milano. I like the idea, because they will for sure improve the mood and create additional optimism, which we stronly need.

A very good example is this pink kitchen:

As the first female Vice President in the United States, Harris is blazing a trail in many ways, many people will follow this choice of colour. And, as astrologer Gahl Sasson writes, 

"Why purple? Well, the politically correct answer is that it offers a message of healing, compromise, and the need for unity. Perhaps to invoke the suffragette, whose banner was purple. But there is a deeper message, as always is the case. Purple is the color of...Aquarius. "

 The hue is not just a message of unity - it has a lot of other symbolic meanings and it seems, after a very heavy year for all of us, purple may be the colour that will bring change.

Trends: Warmth with natural stones

According to Elle Decor, there is a general trend (which I completely agree with) towards warmer, earth tones, including the bathroom. And there we notice a desire to replace white marble in favor of stones with warmer hues like travertine and limestone. I can confirm that from what my latest clients chose for their two bathrooms - travertine walls and travertine-like floor tiles:

I suppose that now, when we are going to spend more time at home, this trend towards warmer hues will become popular.

Stockholm Funiture & Light Fair - a Glimpse

Soft forms, curves, warm colour scheme and velvet - the same trends as at the IMM Cologne and Maison et Objet last month.

How to Introduce Caliente - Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2018 in Your Home

 How do you like the Colour of the year 2018 announced by Benjamin Moore - the beautiful red named Caliente AF-290? After so many years reign of pastels obviously they have decided that we may need a little more brightness and warmth in the interior spaces. If you agree with that, it is time to start making changes - either subtle, with just small accents of red
