Pastel pink and a baby blue are the colors of 2016 according to Pantone

For the first time color authority Pantone has anointed two colors of the year for 2016 - Rose Quartz and Serenity:

I would very much like to borrow the clever title posted by The Decorologist:

Pantone 2016 Color of the Year – Congratulations, It’s Twins!

Because it quite well says everything in just one scentence :)
In order to avoid the feeling that you are in your baby's room, when creating your new home renovation project, use this combination mostly as accents with small and larger interior design objects:

And they say that time of pastels has gone! Of course not - we still need calmness, relaxation, balance and what better way to convey it other than with the most popular baby colours :)

Cherished Gold - the Colour of the Year 2016

It’s the ‘golden hour’ of Dark and Light; it’s the gold that appears in Heritage and Future – both in the paintings of old masters and also in modern design trends."

- is the explanation of  Colour Futures 2016 | CF16 for choosing CherishedGold as  the Colour of the Year 2016. I would say that this is the happy medium, which is quite logical - we have to stop totter  from one extreme to another.

Still, I would say they have not found the proper shade of gold. I like it only as a balancing addition to the other more interesting colours:
