Salone Del Mobile 2022 - Artistic Trend

It seems that Art-Design is a very distinct trend for the coming 60th Salone del Mobile which starts in less that two weeks. Art-deco influences and baroque adornments are often found in many of the new designs that we are going to see in Milan from June 7th during Milan Design Week 2022. A few examples:

А modern version of the sumptuous Art Deco of the 1920s appears in bathrooms, too:

"The Great Gatsby" look

What is expected to be the next hot trend - both, in fashion and interior design? Many of us think that it is going to be imposed by the style of the "The Great Gatsby"- with its flashy set pieces and extravagant parties, decadent jewels, glittering drop waist dresses, this specific 1920s look...Enjoy some inspirational ideas below if you are eager to follow it:

Set designer Catherine Martin was inspired by a French designer of the period, Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, and Art Deco style, including rich hardwood floors, a silk and wood criss-crossed wall covering, and a gray-and-gold rug custom designed by herself.
More set design and ideas how to recreate that Art Deco new trend at home are available in my article at Clippings. And the proof that the revival of this style began several years ago are in my post from October 2009.
But how to be trendy with your appearance? Get some inspiration below: online retailer ModCloth features a collection dedicated to the ‘20s - 1920's Great Gatsby Fashion:

LUSTRE from Salone Internazionale del Bagno 2016

Glamour and luxury seem to be one of the trends from Milan this year - especially in the bathroom:

What Recession? Christie's $28 Million Chair

"'There are still a lot of extremely wealthy people out there." - obviously, since someone would pay $28 million for a leather armchair. The sale was about $25 million higher than the Christie's estimate and set a record for a work of 20th-century design at auction. These words are of Edward Dolman, Christie's managing director.
It was bought by Cheska Vallois, owner of the Paris gallery Vallois, which had originally sold the chair to Saint Laurent. Created in 1917, or slightly later, by Eileen Gray, an Irish architect and furniture designer, for her first commission as an interior decorator. With lacquered wooden armrests shaped like braided serpents, it shows her in transition from art nouveau to art deco.

I like her designs, but still this is unbelievable! "She's always been a darling of design curators and collectors because she was a woman competing in a men's world, and because as a one-of-a kind object it would be perceived as art," explains William L. Hamilton, who previewed the auction for Art in America.
Eileen Gray continues to get her belated appreciation! And crisis appears to be quite relative!

Smart Deco - A Period Room of the 21st Century - the new Crochet Chair

I like that title! A great way to establish oneself as a founder of a whole century style! Could be, who knows, but the new Crochet Chair that Marcel Wanders showed for the first time at the Smart Deco - A Period Room of the 21st Century event is really beautiful! A seat constructed from individual, hand-sewn crochet flowers stitched together, formed over a mould and stiffened with resin - it uses the same technique used for his famous Crochet Table, manufactured by Moooi.

Another addition to the "LACE" trend - one of the major trends that appeared at the begining of the 21st century in the area of interior design.

As you can see both of them constitute a major part of the furnishings in the 21st Century Period Room plan...

More about the event:

Ten of Europe's most innovative designers and artists were asked to
collaborate on a period room of the twenty-first century. All designers were
given complete freedom to create furniture and objects, with a common commitment
to engage the viewer and to build works of the highest quality.
Smart Deco is
an authentic expression reflecting the zeitgeist of contemporary design, as well
as timeless necessity. We live in dynamic times in which boundaries are
dissolved, and smart solutions are integrated with traditional styles, materials
and techniques. Cutting-edge design has come a long way from the premise of
functionality. Smart Deco intends to build a platform for designers creating art
and for artists creating design.

Fashion Meets Design

This is one of the most loved themes by my readers here and a definitely popular trend in contemporary interior design. Now I found a beautiful illustration about this trend and cannot but share it with you:

This is part of this year's Salone, about which I wrote here. Below are two more illustrations about the way fashion relates to interior design, presented at the fair:
