A new trend: see-through furniture enjoys a revival

According to an interesting article in FT.com see-through furniture enjoys a revival and that shows our need for transparency.

" April’s Salone del Mobile, the Milan furniture fair that is often considered a guide to global interior trends, there was a noticeable focus on new materials, and in particular on innovative takes on transparency. There were see-through glass wardrobes; shimmering, colour-changing glass furniture pieces; and Plexiglas tables that resembled ice and looked ready to drip all over the floor."

It is true that one of the most talked about collections there was Patricia Urquiola's Shimmer collection of low tables and shelves for Glas Italia with an iridescent multi-chromatic finish:

But what I like is the idea that this need for transparancy has started earlier and will continue to be characteristic of our 21st century.

Trends in interior design that will stay in 2015

There are certain trends that have stability, that have come to stay. They are connected with the growing desire for sustainability, longevity, green living, comfort and tranquility - the things we all are looking for in an interior. One of them is recycled wood:

Another one is copper - this wonderful metallic hue is great for interior design projects and I am sure it will continue to be present in 2015, too.

These are just threee of the trends that I consider important and stable. What do you think - agree?
