This is a fashion in interior and furniture design that was most clearly noticed at the beginning of 2010 at the Maison et Objet and Cologne Furniture Fair and one that I like very much, especially when wood logs are used because of inherent qualities rather than for being a trendy material or form.
I found yesterday this interesting example of the log trend - a lamp with the name The wise one | design by Ieva Kalēja from "mammalampa” . Their manifesto:
"bored by plastic, we yearn for living beauty"And that is their description of the lamp:
"our wise lamp generates an aura of visceral energy and vitality around her. she will organically blend into a rural environment, as well as providing the essence of nature within city apartments."
"all of the lighting body’s components are inherently natural and refined right down to the finest details; each log has been selected for its individuality, thus preserving the individual character of each tree.our wise lamps are available in two different inner colour versions – naturally white and spring green.
the collection consists of a ceiling lamp and floor lamp with asymmetrically crossed feet made from two complementary materials (brass and painted metal) which accent the spontaneous character of a felled tree."
This trend is closely connected with the Rough Luxe Design Idea - another trend that tries to re-connect us with the more natural way of life.
