A chair that fits in your pocket
which in fact is not a chair at all:)
But it seems to be useful and comfortable! Can you guess? Chairless, a "seating device for the modern nomad." Designed by Alejandro Aravena, can easily fit in your pocket and is probably the most affordable launch of the fair – at €19.99. A wink to the frugality trend? source: today and tomorrow

More Dressed Interior Design Objects at Salone 2010
Two more examples of the close connection between fashion and interior design at Milan Furniture Fair 2010 - Jumper chair in a knitted
cover by Dutch designer Bertjan Pot
source: Dezeen

cover by Dutch designer Bertjan Pot" Jumper consists of one continuous oversized woolen knitted cover, with qualities very much like that of a jumper, including buttons that fix the cover together on the underside of the chair, once the knitted cover is wrapped over the solid wooden structure and bent steel legs. The cover is knitted on a ‘Knit and Wear’ machine that is skilled for clothing garments, but this is where the fashion and design production processes divide. Once the garment is completed it is then run through a high degree wash to attain a seamless and upholstered effect eradicating most of the stretch from the wool but presenting a high quality fabric that layers the structure with precision and rigor."

Obi light by young Swedish designer Jessika Källeskog is inspired, as the name suggests, by the traditional clothing of a geisha. Made from one long strip of thin copperplate, the lamp has been created by wrapping the sheet into an airy sphere and is 'pinned' together with rods. The polished copper is also protected by a clear layer of lacquer.

Luxury at Milan Design Week
To celebrate the opening of Milan Design Week, Versace hosted a cocktail party at the Versace historical HQ in Via Gesù 12 yesterday. Something very beautiful from the new Versace Home Collection:
Sunburst - a crystal round table. Its base is composed by 14 elements in chromed metal that conveys the strength of a solar explosion.
Versace and Venini announced a new partnership agreement for the production and distribution of exclusive collections of vases in blown glass.

New Furniture by Patricia Urquiola at Milan Design Week 2010
Being one of the first fans of Patricia Urquiola and following all her inspiring designs since my first publications in 2005 on this blog, I have been curious to see what new shall we see this year from her at Milan Furniture Fair. Just a week before the most important event of the year in the field of interior design, here they are:
Scriba, is a desk where the supporting element of the writing is characterized by openwork decoration. This component is accompanied by a container door with sliding shelf for computer keyboard. Beautiful! I would like to have it in my home :)

Bend sofa for B and B Italia
Being B & B Italia’s 1,000th product, Patricia Urquiola’s sofa naturally recalls the company’s very first sofa – the Coronado by Afra & Tobia Scarpa from 1966.

Dressed Furniture
| Coat bed, Loop bed and Loop armchair by Axil, design Ilaria Marelli |
Inspired by the tailor’s trade and the world of fashion, the “Coat” bed, designed for AXIL by Ilaria Marelli
appears to be dressed in a cape, or perhaps a giant foulard. Precious fabrics wrap the structure to create a
soft and sumptuous silhouette. Especially interesting are the details at the point where the covering is
fastened to the bed.
A stacking storage module with double access by piurra, Seven skirts of Nazaré comes from an old portuguese tradition. Fisher women here still wear seven colourful layers of skirts, as well as wooden clogs and a predominantly black headscarf. It is said that they represent the seven days of the week, the seven colours in the rainbow, the seven waves in a set and many other biblical, mythical and magical attributions which involve the number seven
