Two objects for the price of one
Great solution for those to whom space is at a premium (a compact rug doubling as an additional seat) - Gregory is a footstool/table which transforms into a rug (and vice versa) in one simple operation. A new, simple and ingenious idea that will appeal also to children of all ages and to the more practical or economic amongst us, who love to get two objects for the price of one. Ligne Roset's table/stool, carpet "Gregory" is designed by Gregory Lacoua and is part of Design Real, a groundbreaking presentation of contemporary design - an exhibition curated by Konstantin Grcic at the Serpentine Gallery London.

3D textile from Japan at Maison et Objet 2007

Kyoto Premium will showcase 25 home decoration attractions at Maison&Objet 2007. The theme is “Essence Of Life -- Home Decoration Products To Enrich Your Life.” Shibori or textile tie dyeing is found in many cultures in the world. Kyoto shibori is well known for its delicate patterns and colors. The textile is processed in a special way to produce an uneven three-dimensional texture.
The name of the dyeing method used to create this textile is called Enshuku-bai Shibori (after the bai-gai, a kind of shellfish).

The New Maia Collection by Patricia Urquiola uses unique 3-D cushion fabric

Kettal launches its new Maia collection, designed exclusively for Kettal by Patricia Urquiola, along with a new Revolutionary three-dimensional fabric for outdoor furniture, which is unique on the market: made from an innovative three-dimensional polyester (used for sportswear), bonded to a fine polyurethane foam. Extremely light and flexible, this construction gives a fine, spongy cushion, great aeration, thanks to its three open textile layers, and freshness. The cushion is machine washable, can be ironed and moulds perfectly to the seat shape. Innovative, versatile fastening to furniture thanks to cord stopper.
