This is already a steady trend. I would not discuss whether it is better or not, but obviously it works when the design is good. And most of the time it requires large enough space.

From all of these designs my favorite remains Patricia Urquiola's feminine idea of the perfect bathroom which she did for Axor in 2009 -
Axor Urquiola. For her bathroom is also a place to have both - privacy and communication, but also a place to connect with nature:
