Milan design week 2012 - new products

We are already seeing some of the new products that will be presented at Milan design week 2012. Something I liked very much - italian designer Ffabio Novembre has created  for Driade  two outdoor chairs - 36h armchair + 56h rocking chair with quite unusual form and different sitting possibilities - what a great escape from the boring tradition!
But he has also another very interesting new product - MURANA for Venini:
"According to the Venetian tradition wearing a mask means to deny one’s own identity escaping from social conventions and regaining the freedom that Wilde, in his famous quote, defines as sincere.
Venini is one of the latest name that still evoke the magic of Venice, through sand and fire, colour and transparency, Prometheus myth and furnaces of Murano.
Murana is the name of the mask I have designed for Venini: a volume to wear for filtering the reality through the glass of its surfaces, a face without sexual or racial connotations able to represent every kind of humanity, a soul for an object that could be casually perceived as a vase…
Good morning Mrs. Mask, good morning Mrs. Murana."
 Beautiful - isn't it?

Another master of contemporary design,
"british designer tom dixon has developed a new lighting collection which is to be featured at his 'luminosity' showcase at the
MOST design festival during milan design week 2012. entitled 'fin light', the fixtures represent an ode to engineering.
using the vaulted space of the museo nazionale della scienza e della tecnologia, the pieces expose their inner details,
which are traditionally hidden from view. the components such as a heat sink, large acrylic lens and 6 LEDs are contained within
circular and cylindrical pieces that are finished in polished steel, bronze and navy blue.
along side this collection 'etch web' will also be featured during the exhibition." source: designboom
