CTRLZAK Art & Design Studio will present their latest furniture design project  D\ZEN inspired by the spiritual and physical balance of Buddhist Zen practices. Archetypal forms that sustain objects and people, imperfect forms in perfect balance. The stick is man’s little touch, which supports nature but reminds us that everything is temporary.

Customization Trend in the Bathroom

Customization trend is not new, but today it is becoming a necessity of modern way of living. I was very pleased to find another example of it: the Cenedese Sink by the North American importer and distributor, Hastings Tile & Bath. Produced in Italy from the world famous Murano glass, each one-of-a-kind custom sink is available in virtually any color or combination of colors and it takes a team of at least six artisans, trained a minimum of 10 years, an average of five days to produce it. Since Murano glass is hand-blow, each piece in the collection is unique. Handblown handles for shower and cabinet doors will be available also when Cenedese adds those categories later in the year.via

Milan Desin Week 2011 - Preview 1

- Milan Furniture Fair celebrates 50 years this April!

The fair in 1962
"launched in 1961 by a small coalition of furniture manufacturers from within the Federlegno-Arredo trade association with the aim of promoting the exportation of Italian furniture...soon became the most prestigious international event in the world of furniture design and production" - and still is!
May be one of the most interesting exhibitions expected to be presented at Milan Desin Week 2011 is 'Poetry happens'curated by Werner Aisslinger, Tim Brauns and Fabien Dumas.
"it stands to be a display of archetypal prototyped
objects or installations with a narrative design quality whether it be through the 'poetry of making',
'poetry of collages', 'poetry of prototyping', 'poetry of spaces and installations' or the 'poetry of sustainability.
here, designers, architects and artists give their personal approach and interpretation of their work in relation to poetry." (designboom)
And the 'Hemp chair' Werner Aisslinger seems to be one of the most interesting new products to be seen there. Produced from real hemp and moulded under heat with a special ecological glue, it is not only eco-friendly, but also shows a specific technological achievement for creating a monobloc stackable chair with complex design form. I wonder what its price will be and can it replace the plastic stackable chars?

Gillespie Side Table (above) is part of a collection of 10 furniture and lighting designs by Samuel Chan for British design firm Channels which will be showcasing its stunning collection of furniture and lighting for the first time in Milan this year. The series explores geometric and organic forms and reflects Samuel’s signature purist style. via
Practical, innovative, functional and 100% recyclable  Kobe is the new chair of Desalto.
