Luxury Interior Design

starts from the entrance - if you want to make a statement, then make it in the first space one gets into when coming to your home. One way to do it is with the largest area that we see - the floors. I just came across these impressive floor designs in Mrs. Howard Personal Shopper - quite different as style and mood, but both memorable and imposing.

Луксозният интериорен дизайн започва още с входното пространство. И най-голямата площ там - подът - е едно от средствата да създадем внушението, което искаме. Ето две впечатляващи идеи.

"...turn business-as-usual totally upside down."

Periods of uncertainty fuel tremendous opportunity, but they also reshuffle the deck and change the rules of the game. DID YOU KNOW THAT Hewlett-Packard, Disney, Hyatt, MTV, CNN, Microsoft, Burger King, and GE all started during periods of economic recession?
Are you one of those searching for ways to make today's recession an opportunity? Then you better look at "The quintessential roadmap for all those who seek opportunity ..." - that is what
Guy Kawasaki, Co-founder of AllTop, Author of Reality says about EXPLOITING CHAOS - the new book by Jeremy Gutsche, the founder of TrendHunter.com, the world's largest network for trend spotting and innovation.

Already named one of CEO Read's ‘2009 Books to Watch', the English version of EXPLOITING CHAOS is set to rock bookstores on Sept. 1, but Trendoffice and Trend Hunter have arranged for you to have a free Sneak Peak of EXPLOITING CHAOS. Click the link below to get the preview:

Cheap & Chic Headboard Ideas

Boy sitting on bed in frog pond bedroom

blue bedroom with cushion headboard

For a new take on an upholstered headboard, hang a bench cushion by its ties from wall-mounted hooks. I wouldn't use this heavy over-door molding, but all the rest is easy to implement and very elegant.

New Designers' Tool for a Quick Fix Revamping

You cannot achieve this luxurious elegant and calm atmosphere with just paint! And you can create variety of styles. It looks like mosaic, but in fact these are unique wall tiles produced using a non vitreous ceramic material.
The name of this new product by the Iitalian company Lea Ceramiche is Paillettes. It offers not only many design possibilities, but also

eliminates many of the installation hassles associated with conventional ceramic tile, not the least of which is a “grout-less” adhesion.Paillettes tiles are made to overlap, or, in the words of Lea Ceramiche , “the undulated cutting of the tiles coincides perfectly to eliminate the joints.” The result is an unadulterated expanse of fanciful ceramics, ideal for the backsplash in a kitchen or bath, or an entire floor to ceiling accent wall.
The quote is from 3rings, where you can read a more detailed description. What I want to show here are some inspiring interior designs with Paillettes. And my expectation that this will become quickly one of the most popular wall treatments - not only for bathrooms.

My latest discovery - the perfect sofa!

I have just discovered my new favourite sofa - its name is DANDY and it is produced by Seven Salotti. I like its cosy elegance and its great color - purple was reigning last season, but I think that its reign is forever. It is a special color for special people. Eggplant, wine, burgundy, plum, beet, raisin and raspberry colors have flooded the catwalks, but as we know that fashion and interior design have a lot in common, so the berries colors were expected to be reigning in our homes, too, for the the whole of 2009, as was the trends forecast. And it appears to be true.
When combined with another element of luxury designs - the capitonné finish (here for the bottom of the base only, which makes it much more interesting), then this sofa becomes an embodiment of style, comfort and luxury. And, of course, it has fully removable covers. Oh, and it can be a perfect bed, too, because of its spacious base.
But there is another quite unusual element in the picture - the intense gray color of the walls. What do you think - is it a possible choice for a home interior design, or it is just suitable for a showroom display?

The Bathroom - a Conversation Corner?

Dosn't this picture evoke in you the impression of a conversation corner? It must be the modern trend in bathroom design -remember

Urquiola's Bathroom for Two for Axor last year? And the showers for two in 2007?

The elegant and cosy bathroom left is Lexo from Schmidt.

Design Your Life

What is design? And why is it so important? Not a new question, but the answers are so many. We already know that design is about much more than what’s bought at high-end stores or the modern look at IKEA, but what exactly? Design is critical thinking: a way to look at the world and wonder why things work, and why they don’t.
Using humor and insight leading design thinker Ellen Lupton and her twin sister Julia Lupton in their new book Design Your Life explore the practical side of everyday design, looking at how it impacts your life in unexpected ways and what you can do about it. Speaking to the popular interest in design as well as people’s desire to make their own way through a mass-produced world, the book takes a fresh and humorous approach to make some serious points about the impact of design on our lives.

Taking a fresh, funny look at parenthood, housekeeping, entertaining, time management, crafting, and more Design Your Life shows you how to evaluate the things you use, and how to recognize forms of order that secretly inhabit the messes of daily life, be it a cluttered room or a busy schedule. Using the book you can gain control over your environment and tap into the power of design to communicate with friends, family, and the world.

There is one short description of design that I like very much: design is communication. Why? Ellen Lupton explains it very clearly in her blog Design Your Life.
