Design for Children Trend: wooden toys gain new popularity

There seems to be an influx of wooden toys on the market, but also a lot of designer companies are beginning to create and produce beautiful and creative wooden toys. They are a great alternative to the mostly used plastic toys - they are something that children can hold onto for long time and maybe pass it on to the next generations, they are sustainable, most often hand made using traditional craftsmanship, and carry the warmth of the material.
 KARUMA (the Japanese word for “car”) is an amazing handmade wooden toy  designed and made by  FLOWERS, a Japanese studio, funded by Iso Togawa and Mido Togawa, based in Yakushima:
