"A luxury dream for just few privileged people"

As you have seen in my previous post, too, sensual and smooth spherical forms are conquering bathroom design along with the trend for increased use of natural materials within our modern bathrooms. The new collection “Panta Rei”, by Carlo Colombo for Antonio Lupi presented at Cersaie 2006 represents both of these trends. It is a series of items that are top of the range as for quality and uniqueness of the employed materials. The items of the new collection, Estetica are like real sculptures:

The washbasin “Opium” has unusual ball-shape and is made of moonstone. Externally it is with spherical form, but internally is asymmetric: in order to help its use, the opening has been built towards the outside while the leaning cut aims at lightening its form.

Antonio Lupi Design offers two exclusive items in limited edition and they will be manufactured in 10 pieces per type only.

Washbasin Pila (right) is made of onyx stone and amber coloured.

Onyx, being already used by The Romans and the
Greeks in ancient times, is a stone with a warm colour and intense nuances; it
has a strong emotional power. It is a product that is absolutely exclusive and
its craftmade manufacturing is complex.

The new bath “Arca” (top), a real sculpture, is made of moonstone, has an elliptic form, and is an item that, together with its special smooth and sinuous line, is made even more special by the fact that it is hollow in one single monolith. It is a luxury dream for just few privileged people.

One more example of the above trends: Claudio Silvestrin's Le Aque for Toscoquatro:

I like its style, although I doubt whether all these luxury bathroom items will not look too clumsy in real bathrooms that are not ocupying a whole floor.
