London Design Festival 15 – 30 September 2005.

Since 2003 London dedicates the last two weeks in September to design. Created as an annual international event it is the capital's premiere showcase for the London and the UK’s creative talents.
Here are some glimpses:

Orloff is a clever geometrical bowl made from a single disc of drawn plate sans welding by my favourite designer Patricia Urquiola, again as a part of the Fall/Winter collection of Alessi, presented in their store during the festival

In the foyer of the Museum of London on London Wall, the Japanese lighting firm Yamagiwa presented their collection of lights designed by the likes of Tokujin Yoshioka and Ross Lovegrove. The focus was on Lovegrove's System X controlled by a very specific computer program

A new area of application for the talent of P. Urquiola - lighting. Her Caboche ceiling lamp (created together with Eliana Gerotto) is sophisticated and elegant. 189 transparent polymethylmethacrylate balls multiply the brightness of the central lighting source
