Milan Design Week 2018 Trends - Too much brass

There was a lot of this material present everywhere during Salone 2018. Brass is beautiful - I like it, especially the sound that comes from brass instruments :) I like the subtle luxe it gives to an interior when used properly and mainly as accents...

Some companies succeed to use it in moderation, but when it is too much...

Kitchen Trends

According to a post in Freshome,
"These days, two-toned kitchen cabinets are the look everyone seems to be clamoring over".
And they give a set of good-looking examples, one of which is with a similar to the Pantone's shade of  purple paint on the lower cupboards:

Reading this post I realized that most of my kitchen projects are exactly two-toned:

So, I don't think this can be considered a new trend, but still, like the idea to use two toned cabinets and make the kitchen more interesting.

What do you think?

I plan to post more about kitchen trends, especially when we get nearer to the coming Milan Design Week in April, where kitchens and bathrooms are going to be basic themes.

Stockholm Funiture & Light Fair - a Glimpse

For those of us who did not go, this is a good chance to have a glimpse to the atmosphere. The photos are from Nordic Design News.

I would like to have this ondulating heap of drawers in my home :)
Soft forms, curves, warm colour scheme and velvet - the same trends as at the IMM Cologne and Maison et Objet last month.

Maison&Objet 2018 - Luxe and Art Deco

Continuing the trend from last year a lot of  lush jewel toned velvets and small decorative and practical objects in Art Deco style:

Interior Design Trends that will stay in 2018

As I said earlier, it is obvious that velvet will continue to be one of the favourite textiles this year, too. But it goes quite well with the Art deco style that was revived a few years ago, especially with the new versions of The Great Gatsby. We see all this in the new releases of Longwave by Diesel with Moroso

and Promenade by Philippe-Nigro for Thonet:

Soft, rounded forms in furniture - which is obvious from both examples above and below:

Terrazzo - this wonderful new/old material will continue to be widely used, because of the numerous possibilities it gives for interior designers, architects and decorators:

These are just a few from the interior design trends that are probably to stay in 2018, too, and may inspire you for your new home or home renovation.

Interior Design Trends 2018 - Part 1

I will post each trend separately so that I can add new designs each time they appear to prove this trend expectation.
One trend that started this year will for sure continue to be quite alive in the coming 2018 - the new love for velvet, showing our desire to indulge in more luxury. We saw it in April at Milan Design Week 2017:

We see it also in the new collection of GTV - a sofa I would definitely love to have at home and use in other client's projects. It is a symbol of modern and at the same time classical elegance and luxury:

And in the new red Nola Chair by TRISS:

Looking at this selection you may guess what my second trend will be - stay tuned.
