Lighting takes center stage again at the new addition of Salone del Mobile in April 2025. And I am very pleased to learn that because lighting design is one of my favorite themes in every interior design project. And because I completely agree with what Carlo Urbinati, President of Assoluce of FederlegnoArredo says:
“Light not only makes things appear but creates atmospheres, depth and perceptions capable of interpreting architectures and open spaces..."

Euroluce is back again this time with a new content-focused addition: the first international biennial “occasion” devoted to the central role of light in architectural design - the first edition of The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, being held as part of Euroluce 2025, at Rho Fiera Milano on 10th and 11th April. The Forum was presented as a world premiere in Munich, the first stop on the “Salone, Milano and Beyond” tour promoting the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025.

Another reason for following what comes with it is the idea that "At a time when cross-discipline collaboration is crucial for tackling contemporary challenges, the International Lighting Forum will be a hub of ideas and visions that encourage dialogue, laying fertile ground for innovation."
For sure one of the several trends that we saw at Salone del Mobile this year that will continue to be topical in 2024 and further is PORTABLES - almost every lighting company in Milan showed their proposal for portable lighting, but most impressive was the collection presented by Tom Dixon.
‘The big highlight this year are the new portable lights, all inspired by existing Tom Dixon designs. We have four colours in the melt version and the baby bell (shown above). They are all IP44, so suitable for indoor and outdoor use. They are dimmable and we have worked really hard to ensure they are properly engineered, in the material and functionality. You can expect to get between 8 – 9 hours of battery life.’

Enjoy some of my photos (so, please, do not copy) from Euroluce - lighting is not only function, as you can see, but sometimes it can have even additional function:

"...this year the only lights we’ll see will be those of the exhibitors, as in a varied museum, with cold, warm, dim or bright lighting" says Andrea Cacaci of Lombardini22, one of the designers of the coming edition of Euroluce. The other designers are from Lombardini22 and Formafantasma.
They have decided to abandon the functional pavilion-centric grid and to create a veritable City of Lights complete with streets, squares and points of social focus intended not just for businesses. The classic layout has been changed to a circular route and in a virtual simulation they have found that with the classic layout you can travel about 1.2 km to see a whole pavilion, while with a circular route in about 500 meters you pass in front of all the stands.
While expecting the coming Salone del Mobile enjoy some inspiration from the last Euroluce:
