The Modern Bathroom - Trends and Ideas

The modern bathroom, no doubt, is colorful. And we have enormous possibilities for choice between designs and materials - have a look at just two of my photos from the latest Salone del Mobile:

If I had to design a bathroom for myself today, I would use probably this corner bath tub:

OFURO1 by Antonio Lupi

In addition to its elegant lines it also seems to be the most comfortable and easy to use, in combination with the same INDIGO taps, towel warmer Rigo and these tiles:

But, on the other hand I like a lot the modern trend for more color and texture, which most often brings also coziness in any interior, including bathrooms:

How do you like this brave use of different materials and colors?

There is another modern trend for more use of travertine in interior designs:

This is the second bathroom in a house at the Black Sea coast I did

The main bathroom in this project, where we used travertine tiles on the walls

Can you see how natural light enhances the colorsand textures in this bathroom? I would be happy to use it every day :) It has another trend implemented, too - the one for rounded forms, which started a few years ago and now we see it everywhere.

"longevity decor is en vogue"

Finally we are coming back to the well-known from our parents and grand-parents approach - we have to think of how our furniture and home as a whole will serve us through the coming years. And this should not be considered a trend, as ELLE Decor published soon in an article about latest interior design trends - this is the logical way of designing for ourselves and for our children.

This is also the best approach to designing furniture as something which is to be used for long years. It is about quality materials and elegant functional design that will satisfy the needs of generations. Like wood and natural stone. I like using wood in my designs - it can easily be renovated and treated so that it can age beautifully:

Although I would rather say that "longevity design is en vogue", because decor is something which we can easily change and create a different mood without major renovations.

Trend alert: Experiences Sell

Can you imagine to look for your new bag in the charm of open air winter white nature thriving in an interior! This is the feeling that Interior designer David Monn and Bergdorf Goodman SVP Linda Fargo have created A Winter Wonderland on Fifth Avenue:

There is even a flock of geese in flight, magically migrating in air through the Bergdorf Goodman store:

“Cluttercore” Trend

seems to be the new popular trend in interior design or decoration. How does that sound to you? For me it is quite near what appears to be my personal style at home.
According to ELLE Decor "Cluttercore" means to make your apartment look strategically cluttered rather than carelessly messy:

This library photo looks very much like mine :)

This is a functional style that is created by tasteful arrangement of what you own and love through thematic or visual relationships and layering with some order in the chaos.

Maison&Objet Inspiration

"... During the next 5 days, from January 15th to 20th, Paris turns into a playground for decorators, interior designers, galleries, great maisons and exceptional artisans." Its theme ‘Sur/Reality’ explores the resurgence of a contemporary neo-Surrealism that taps into fantasy, distortion, and the bizarre.

Exquisite craftsmanship and rare woods

That is what one thinks when sees the elegant and truely original furniture by Aaron Poritz, American-born designer who splits his time between Managua, Nicaragua, and New York City. They are a beautiful blend of high-quality craft traditions with contemporary design. Look and enjoy:

Bathroom Design - Trends 2022

As my readers know bathroom design is booming in the last years and bathroom trends, quite naturally for a blog like Trendoffice, are one of my regular themes. Now, in addition to coziness, increased colour use and custamization, I find that texture is the trend in bathroom design that will gain popularity for 2022. And I like it! This is another way to add more coziness to one of the most used spaces in our homes:

“Haute Couture” for Bathrooms

Bathroom design is one of the most actively changing areas of interior design - we saw a lot of new technologies and growth in colorful new designs:

but this customization and addition of textures is something new:

"...total adaptability thanks to the cut to size, which allows the product to adapt to every bathroom space, customization with more than 2,000 colours..."

Another Trend from Supersalone

In addition to sustainability - a central theme in this year’s fair - a lot of colour everywhere was another distinctive interior design trend. After the gloomy almost two years without live events designers now respond with rich colour palettes:

Purple Rain

If I had to choose a Colour of the Year 2021 I would for sure choose PUPLE! Many reasons for that - and all the world saw already the beginning of this trend during the inauguration yesterday:

I am sure many will follow. But as we know there is a lot in common between fashion and interior design and my readers have seen so many examples here in my blog. We saw Patricia Urquiola's new armchair and sofa at Milano Design City:
Wallpaper and Colour of the Year 2021 | Graham & Brown

If you follow the posts of the official page of Salone del Mobile on facebook, you must have, like me, come to the impression that we are obviously going to see a lot of  purple, pink, violet colours in the coming 2021 in our homes - and probably at its 60th edition from 5th to 10th September 2021 @ Rho Fiera Milano. I like the idea, because they will for sure improve the mood and create additional optimism, which we stronly need.
A very good example is this pink kitchen:

As the first female Vice President in the United States, Harris is blazing a trail in many ways, many people will follow this choice of colour. And, as astrologer Gahl Sasson writes,
"Why purple? Well, the politically correct answer is that it offers a message of healing, compromise, and the need for unity. Perhaps to invoke the suffragette, whose banner was purple. But there is a deeper message, as always is the case. Purple is the color of...Aquarius. "

The hue is not just a message of unity - it has a lot of other symbolic meanings and it seems, after a very heavy year for all of us, purple may be the colour that will bring change.

What we missed with postponing Salone2020 - Part 2

With my earlier post What we missed with postponing Salone del Mobile.Milano 2020 - Part 1 we saw some of the new products that were planned to be showcased during salone 2020. Let's have a look at some more. I notice a trend for soft elegant curves in many of the new furniture pices that we see this year:

Soul Soft" by Eugeni Quitllet for Pedrali
I like very much the new Panda collection by Swedish designer Monica Förster:
