Couture in Lighting

It seems that now we can use this word for interior lighting - at least for Moschino
Lamp Collection (ELLE
):

"The fashion world recognizes Moschino for its tongue-in-chic style that
pushes the limits, and now the whimsical label has taken its vision to the home.
Without straying too far from its iconic wit, Moschino's new line of lamps
copies the garments that inspired them. In true-to-life dimensions, the dress,
bag, bustier and boot lamps are now available for special order."

I find it a great idea on how to use your already too small dress;)

More seriously speaking, MoschinoLamp Collection is just another evidence how much fashion and interior design are connected and influence each other - with ideas and design elements.
As I have already mentiond, lighting is one of the best tools for interior designers (and obviously I am obssessed with it), but lighting has inspired many furniture designers, as well as designers from other fields, to express their creativity through it. I am impressed with the lighting designs by P. Urquiola, but many of these 'designer lamps' are very expensive. If you are searching for a real designer lamp for your home with reasonable price, have a look at these possibilities:

Lantern Bubble Pendant by George Nelson

Lantern Bubble Pendant by George Nelson, a George Nelson design, is a classic "must have" piece of design history that has transcended both time and trends. It features architect George Nelson's fresh solution to lighting design in the organic form. The lamps were first produced by spray-coating a skeleton of steel wire with a layer of translucent plastic that cuts glare but allows light to softly shine through. The tautly stretched White plastic polymer emphasizes the simple form and sculptural qualities of the lamp. The Lantern Bubble Pendant features a White plastic diffuser and a Stainless Steel finish.

The Bourgie Table Lamp by Kartell , designed by Ferrucio Laviani, combines ultra-modern technology with tried-and-true form to create a 21st Century bourgeoisie lighting element made of transparent polycarbonate.

More interesting designs will follow soon.
